The Parks and Sustainability Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Town Council on matters pertaining to public parks, off-street trails, open space, public grounds, street trees, and creeks and waterways. The Commission shall receive public input, evaluate options, and make recommendations on policy issues including, but not limited to: 

  1. Biodiversity, landscaping, infrastructure, water usage, recycling and equitable access. 
  1. Current and future needs of the changing Town, society and environment.   
  1. Coordination of services and programs with other governmental agencies and service organizations. 
  1. Education, outreach and research related to sustainability and parks initiatives. 

Enabling Resolution

The Commission's membership consists of:

  • Seven (7) adult voting members, whose terms of office shall be three (3) years
  • One (1) non-voting Youth Commissioner liaison, appointed by the Youth Commission, whose term of office shall be for one (1) year with no limitations on reappointments. 

Meetings


The Commission meets on the first Monday of even numbered months (i.e. February, April, June, August, etc.) Meetings are held at various parks during warm summer months and at the Parks and Public Works Department office during the winter months.
