- Section 14.50.015 of the Los Gatos Town Code defines a false alarm as
An Activation of a police alarm system, to which personnel of the Police Department respond, in circumstances where no Police emergency exists; provided, that such activation shall not be deemed a false alarm if the owner thereof establishes, by a preponderance of evidence, that the alarm was activated by matters entirely beyond the owner's control, including but not limited to acts of God or utility failures.

- How can I pay my false alarm fine?
- Fines can be paid either online www.pticket.com/losgatos or mailing to PO BOX 11113, San Jose, CA 95103-1113
- How can I transfer my alarm permit to another address within Los Gatos?
- No. If you move, you must register again and pay a new fee of $95.
- Registration fee is per calendar year, and not prorated
- If you moved into a new residence within Los Gatos and it has an existing alarm, you will still need to register the new address and alarm system at your new address.
