Red, White, and Blue Block Party

Join Us for Two Events to Celebrate our Country’s Birthday!

On Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Town is hosting the Red, White, and Blue Block Party in Downtown Los Gatos. The celebration will extend from the intersection of West Main Street and North Santa Cruz Ave to the intersection of Bachman Avenue and North Santa Cruz Avenue. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., yet will remain open to pedestrians, bicyclists, and scooters.

Enjoy the festivities! The Town and several volunteer organizations are offering family activities, including face painting, rock-climbing wall, story time, children’s train, arts & crafts, and more. Additionally, downtown businesses are providing fun activities, sidewalk sales, and other items. To wrap up the Block Party, the Town is introducing a new tradition called “Star Spangled Stroll.” To participate, simply show up to the festival with a bike, scooter, stroller, or yourself. There will be a bike valet, as well as a decoration station for those who would like to garnish their bikes in patriotic garlands, ribbons, and more. For more details, please visit

Enjoy music at Oak Meadow Park! A few days later, on Tuesday, July 4, the Town will host a second event called “4th of July Symphony in the Park.“ This event features a concert performance by San Jose Wind Symphony from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad will provide train and carousel rides, children’s activities, beer garden for persons 21 and older, and BBQ. Next Steps for the North 40 Development Proposal

The Town Council met in closed session on June 27, 2017 to discuss with legal counsel whether to file an appeal of the Superior Court Decision and Judgment regarding the North 40 Project. The Council unanimously approved a motion to direct staff to not file an appeal.  The Town is scheduling a hearing for July 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. to set aside the denial of the Project and reconsider the Project pursuant to the Superior Court Decision and Judgment.  The legal documents pertaining to the case and other North 40 Specific Plan and development application materials are available at:

Summer is here and so is the heat!

Summer is upon us and with it our first real heat wave of the season. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Friday through Sunday across the Bay Area and California.  While we enjoy all that our beautiful Town has to offer this weekend, please remember some of the following hot weather precautions:

  • Drink more water than usual.

  • Wear a hat and light-colored clothing when you go out.

  • Help kids and the elderly stay cool.

  • Help pets find a cool spot and provide extra water.

  • During the hottest hours of the day, avoid strenuous activities and stay in air-conditioned  buildings.

  • Remember to never leave pets or kids in a parked car!

If you have family members or neighbors who may need a place to cool down this weekend, our Library is a wonderful place to relax and read and beat the heat:

Make A Difference

Wondering How You Can Make a Difference in Keeping the Town Looking Good?

There are a couple of things that residents can do. You can adopt a highway - where you provide cleanup or you can even cover the cost of a third party contractor to do it. The nice part about this is that you get to see the section of highway and the difference you make. Email or browse to the Caltrans Adopt a Highway web page:

You can volunteer on the Town's Adopt a Highway team. We have adopted the circle ramps at Highway 9 and go out every couple months to clean those up. It is a great way to connect with other residents who share the same interest. Email Marina at to participate.

Similarly, there is a local Beautification Committee that is a sub-committee of the Los Gatos Community Foundation. This committee meets quarterly but more importantly they conduct monthly cleanups on Saturday mornings on targeted areas in Town. Email Nancy at

Finally, you can pick an area of interest to you and your neighbors and take it on. If you need help (garbage bags, reflective vests, pick up sticks) we can check them out to you. And you can even return the trash bags full and we’ll keep them. Email

In summary, there are a number of ways you can connect and make a difference!
