SB 1383 (Coming Soon)
Effective January 1, 2022, SB 1383 (Lara, Chapter 395, Statutes of 2016)
will require residents and businesses to divert organics from the landfill. The Town of Los Gatos and West Valley Collection & Recycling will continue to update the community as changes are made and programs are created for SB 1383 implementation. West Valley Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Agency (JPA)

The Town of Los Gatos and other Bay Area government entities belong to Joint Power Authorities (JPAs) that provide or oversee various contractual services. The JPA meetings are open to the public and are posted in accordance with the Ralph J. Brown Act.

West Valley Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Agency (JPA)
The West Valley Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Agency (JPA) Board of Directors review issues related to the solid waste management franchise, disposal, recycling, and yard waste agreement for the communities of Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and Campbell. All of the west valley cities contract for solid waste collection and disposal services through the JPA. The current solid waste provide is West Valley Collection & Recycling.

The West Valley Solid Waste Management JPA meetings take place on the 1st Thursday during the months of February, May, August, and November at 5:00 p.m. at the Monte Sereno City Hall, 18041 Saratoga Los Gatos Rd. Click here for agendas, board packets, and meeting minutes.
