Town of Los Gatos

Update on Weekend Traffic Control Measures to Address Cut-Through Labor Day Beach Traffic

This weekend represents the culmination of efforts developed over the summer towards managing cut through traffic and is the last summer weekend of beach traffic.  The emphasis continues to revolve around mitigating  the effects of traffic while protecting the vibrancy of the downtown and the peacefulness of the neighborhoods.

Efforts in place this weekend include adjustments to traffic signal timing, changes to the how the intersection at Main and Santa Cruz Avenues functions, and the use of advisory signage. The Highway 9 entrances to Tait and Massol Avenues will also be closed for the final time this summer and the Police Department will have additional officers on duty and will remain flexible to provide service where most needed.

As new additions to the efforts this weekend, Caltrans will program messaging on their freeway signage and the Town will install portable message signs at freeway off ramps to encourage freeway traffic to remain on the freeway.  As the summer ends, Town staff will continue to look for long term solutions to manage cut through traffic.
