Library Staff is assessing if the Library’s current open hours best align with the needs of the community.

While there is no intention of changing the overall 54 hours of public service that the Library is currently open per week, staff is evaluating if there would be advantages to a consistent daily schedule or redistributing open hours to align with usage statistics, internal staffing levels, and public demand. We welcome community input on the Library’s hours of operation by completing the following survey at:        https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SQ5C7D8

The survey will be available until March 2, 2018.

For reference, the current Library hours are:
  M-Tu 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  W-F 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  Sun. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (June through August)

This is a free service fully funded by the MED-Project. Government facilities and private businesses (drug stores) within the County are receiving secured disposal bins for kiosk disposal of qualified medications. Lifesaving Information For Emergencies (L.I.F.E.) File

Emergencies can happen when we least expect them to and many of the requests for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) happen within the home. The Town of Los Gatos is partnering with the Santa Clara County Fire Department to promote their new L.I.F.E. file program. The L.I.F.E. File is a simple tool individuals and families may use to assist emergency responders during a medical emergency.   First Responders rely heavily upon the patient, and/or the patient’s family members, to provide information used to help in the treatment and care of the patient. However, there are times when the patient is unable to provide this information and family members may not be present or available to assist First Responders during a medical emergency. The L.I.F.E. File information includes past pertinent medical history, allergies to medications, medications currently prescribed to the patient, advanced medical directives and any additional information. The L.I.F.E. File pouch is a vinyl magnetic pouch that is placed in an easily seen location on the front or side of the refrigerator.

You may pick up L.I.F.E. Files from Town Hall and local fire stations. If you, or anyone you know, would like additional information on the L.I.F.E. File program please contact Jackie Rose, Community Outreach Coordinator at JRose@losgatosca.gov

Ready SCC

Disasters Don't Plan Ahead.
You Can.

The County's Office of Emergency Services offers two simple steps you can take to help prepare for disasters and protect your family. The first is to sign-up for the County's emergency alert system, which is AlertSCC.  Second, create a family disaster preparedness plan with the new ReadySCC app. ReadySCC helps you create a plan, put together a kit, and know what to do and where to go in an emergency.  You can download ReadySCC for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Volunteers sought for Bike Valet at Local Events

The Los Gatos Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission is supporting free Bike Valet parking at local events, building on the success of the Red, White and Blue block party, where we parked over 100 bikes, so we are ready with plenty of space and racks. Volunteering to park bikes is a ton of fun! You can sign up with some friends and make a date of it and high school students can even receive community service hours. Cyclists arriving at the event are always happy to see you and fun to talk to. Typically volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts with each shift led by an experienced commissioner. If you would like to help out, please contact Maria Ristow, ristows@comcast.net to become a part of this amazing volunteer team. Help us take more cars off the road and make it easy for people to bike downtown.
