Temporary Traffic Measures
July 2-4, 2016

The Town of Los Gatos continues to thrive as a destination to live, work, and play, as well as shop and dine.

The Town is piloting different traffic mechanisms and collecting data to assess potential transportation options. To achieve this, the Town has implemented a temporary closure along South Santa Cruz Avenue at Wood Road. The closure effectively eliminates southbound access to Highway 17. Through the use of signage and public outreach, the Town has identified freeway entrances at Highway 9 and Lark Avenue as the preferred routes. Traffic data show that the fastest route to the beach is to remain on Highway 17 rather than cutting through Los Gatos.

The temporary closure takes the form of a temporary traffic circle at South Santa Cruz Avenue and Wood Road. Vehicles entering the circle headed south on Santa Cruz Avenue are redirected back north. The traffic circle also accommodates vehicles exiting northbound Highway 17 and local traffic from Wood Road.

The pilot closure will be in place on July 2, 3, and 4, and July 9 and 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weekend travelers to the coast are encouraged to remain on Highway 17 as the quickest route to the beach. Los Gatos welcomes visitors to shop, dine, and enjoy the Town.

Los Gatos Celebrates the 4th of July

Join the Town of Los Gatos as we celebrate the 4th of July at Oak Meadow Park from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, 2016!
  • Kick off the day with children’s activities while enjoying entertainment provided by the Sizzling Seniors.
  • Enjoy BBQ favorites and ice cold drinks available for purchase from the following Los Gatos Community Service Organizations: Lions, Rotary, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Los Gatos Community Foundation.
  • Listen to the San Jose Wind Symphony concert beginning with a Flag Raising Ceremony and Mayor’s Welcome, followed by an afternoon of popular tunes and patriotic songs.
We will be honoring our local service men and women with a Yellow Ribbon at intermission. Our Flag Raising and Yellow Ribbon Ceremonies are made possible by Boy Scout Troop 2 and Operation Yellow Ribbon.
  • Be sure to catch the toe tappin’, finger snappin’ good time with the Peninsula Banjo Band as the last performance during our 4th of July festivities.
General parking is available at Calvary Church (16330 Los Gatos Blvd.) with a shuttle service every 15 minutes. Handicap parking is available at the front entrance of Oak Meadow Park on a first come, first serve basis. See you there!

Council Adopted Entertainment
and Late Night Entertainment Policy


On June 21, 2016 the Town Council adopted a Late Night Entertainment Policy allowing businesses to offer entertainment before 10:00 pm by right and after 10:00 pm with a late night entertainment permit given there is compliance with the Town’s Noise Ordinance.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Online Survey 
Community Meeting scheduled for July 7, 2016

 

The Town of Los Gatos is preparing it’s first-ever Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. We would greatly appreciate your insight and feedback on walking, bicycling and other non-motorized modes of transportation in Los Gatos. 

Your responses will be crucial in helping the Town identify major issues and plan for future improvements that will make walking and biking safer and more fun. Click here to take the survey.

A community meeting hosted by the Town of Los Gatos Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers located at 110 E. Main Street.

Planning Commission Public Hearing
for North 40 Development Applications
 July 12, 2016 

 

The Planning Commission will continue the public hearing for the proposed North 40 Development Applications at a Special Meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at 110 E. Main Street.
 

It is anticipated that the Planning Commission will continue their discussion of the Development Applications to its regular meeting on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The role of the Planning Commission is to make a recommendation on the applications to the Town Council.

The Development Applications are for the southern half of the Specific Plan Area. Specifically, the proposal includes 320 residential units, of which 50 are affordable senior units; approximately 66,000 square feet of commercial space, which includes a market hall; and on-site and off-site road and other improvements. The Specific Plan and the development plans are available for review online and in the Community Development Department at 110 E. Main Street, Los Gatos, CA 95030.

A scale model is located in the Los Gatos Library and will be available for viewing throughout the Planning Commission and Town Council public hearing process. Story poles on the site are available for viewing until August 9, 2016.  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and other information is available on the North 40 webpage.

Comments on the Development Applications may be made verbally at the Planning Commission public hearing and/or may be submitted in writing by 11:00 a.m. the day of the Planning Commission meeting.  Written comments are encouraged and should be submitted to Joel Paulson, Community Development Director, at 110 E. Main Street, Los Gatos, CA 95030.
