Citizens Police Academy
In light of the COVID-19 precautionary measures being taken countywide the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Citizens Police Academy is being postponed until further notice. You will all receive advanced notice of when the course will be re-scheduled. In the event the next time-frame for the course does not fit your availability, you will be given the option to be placed on a wait list for the next series of classes to be held.

About the Academy
The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department is proud to offer a Citizens Police Academy to the residents of the Town of Los Gatos and the City of Monte Sereno. A major goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to increase understanding between our citizens and the Police Department, and to enhance the strong relationships we have with the community. Topics covered include patrol operations, laws of arrest, investigations, records processing, traffic law, communications, defensive tactics, supportive resources and much more.
Students will participate in informative classroom-style presentations as well as practical demonstrations with a variety of Police Department personnel.
Instructors are drawn from all areas in the Department. Students meet the Chief of Police, managers, supervisors, patrol officers, detectives, dispatchers, and other department employees.
Prospective participants for the Citizens Police Academy must:
- Live in the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department jurisdiction
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have no felony convictions, outstanding warrants, or pending criminal cases
- Must have no misdemeanor convictions within three years of application
- All applicants will be required to be fingerprinted before the Academy
- All participants must not miss more than three hours of the Academy

Eligibility for attendance is at the sole discretion of the Police Department. After preliminary review to confirm eligibility, a list will be compiled and students will be notified.
