Are you interested to receive notification of decisions coming before the Town Council?

One of the best ways to receive notification is by signing up for the Town’s “Notify Me” subscriptions.  For example, if you are interested in proposed new policies affecting properties in the Town, you are welcome to sign up for Town Council, Council Policy Committee, and Planning Commission.  You will receive notification and links to future agendas and reports. You can then monitor the activities of these groups and participate at your convenience.

Stay connected with the Town of Los Gatos via FacebookInstagram, and Twitter!  With these platforms, stay updated with Town news including announcements, Council, Committee, and Commission meetings, events, photos, and more.  Additionally, connect and learn about Town services through each of the Town's department websites at www.losgatosca.gov.

Sign Up to Receive Emergency and
Non-Emergency Messages

Nixle is a free notification platform that connects our agency with the community for emergency and non-emergency messaging.  Users subscribe by texting “LGMSPD” to 888-777 on their mobile devices or by enrolling at www.nixle.com.  Users set their own preferences for delivery of messages (text or email).

There are three levels of notification: Alert, Advisory, and Community.
  • Alerts are reserved for situations when critically important information needs to be relayed in order to preserve life and/or property and when the residents are being asked to take immediate action.
  • Advisories are used to communicate important, need-to-know information when we are asking the community for a heightened sense of awareness or caution.
  • Community Messages are used to convey everyday activities, happenings, and developments. Community messages do not contain any time-sensitive information.
All residents, business owners, and visitors to Los Gatos and Monte Sereno are encouraged to sign up for Nixle to ensure that they receive public safety notifications from the Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department.

Interested in Proposed Development in Town?

Some projects include images/plans and other related documents for information only. For example, a new proposal was filed in late February for 16212 Los Gatos Blvd. (at the corner of Shannon).  By visiting the Pending Planning Projects, you can click on the development plans and see the new proposal for this location.

Silicon Valley Clean Energy

Starting in April, Los Gatos will be powered by 100% carbon-free electricity.Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is a new non-profit, public agency, formed in spring 2016 by twelve South Bay communities, including Los Gatos, to source clean electricity on our behalf at costs below PG&E’s comparative generation rates.

PG&E is still an essential partner as they will continue to deliver electricity over existing power lines, maintain the lines, send bills and provide customer service. Enrollment for SVCE is automatic and will take place over a six-month period, in three phases - April, July and October 2017. You will know when you’re enrolled when you receive notices in the mail. You will get two before enrollment, and two after.

Customers with existing PG&E accounts are automatically enrolled in SVCE’s GreenStart electric generation service, which is 100% carbon-free. The energy is sourced from 50% renewables such as wind and solar, and 50% from large hydro. For a small premium, residents and businesses may also choose to upgrade to GreenPrime to receive 100% renewable and 100% carbon-free power. Getting 100% renewable energy for your home only costs an extra $3 -$5 per month for a typical residential customer. Customers may also opt out to remain with PG&E’s bundled service.

Rate structures with PG&E will remain the same, and SVCE customers remain eligible for most PG&E efficiency programs. So if you are an EV driver, your car will be powered by 100% carbon-free energy. For solar customers, you will be enrolled on a date close to your annual true-up date, and SVCE’s Net Energy Metering program offers better incentives and payouts than PG&E’s program. For customers on a special discounted rate like CARE, FERA or Medical Baseline, your discount will not change and you don’t have to take any action to maintain your discounted rate.

Right now, electricity used to power our homes and businesses creates about a quarter of our region’s emissions. Using more renewable energy is an easy, economical way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and improve our carbon footprint. It’s the single most effective way to curb emissions and secure a clean energy future. To learn more go to www.svcleanenergy.org
