Become A CERT Member
When disaster strikes, you may not be home. Who will check on your family? Who will check for gas leaks? Your neighbors, of course!!! Many neighborhoods in Los Gatos & Monte Sereno have organized to respond to a disaster and received the added benefit of developing a safer, friendlier place to live.  Why don't you join them?

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is one of the most visible Town emergency preparedness programs, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This 18-hour course offers training in disaster preparation response and recovery skills.

Sessions include:
  • Disaster preparedness
  • Light search and rescue
  • Damage assessment
  • Disaster fire suppression
  • Disaster medical operation
  • Neighborhood preparedness
  • Terrorism/Hazmat
  • Disaster psychology
  • CERT team organization 
The course is designed to be a fun, interactive learning experience for adults of all ages. The final session is an exercise that includes an earthquake drill and fire extinguisher training. All Sessions are required to graduate
