Meet the Chartreuse Caboose!
Los Gatos Library's Pedal-Powered Library

The book bike is a combination electric pedal assist bicycle and trailer that will bring the resources of the Los Gatos Library to the local community.

Thanks to a grant from the Pacific Library Partnership and the Friends of the Los Gatos Library, the library has collaborated with the Burgeon Group and Vintage Bikes to design and build a custom bicycle and book trailer.

Chris and Dolly took to the Chartreuse Caboose to Whole Foods for the annual Red Ribbon Week event and talked to 127 children, 24 teens and 99 adults! They had tons of fun showcasing the bike and everyone was excited about the spin wheel to win prizes. (The “la-la-la lollipops” was a crowd favorite to win.) There was a huge line of people waiting (in the rain!), to see what the Los Gatos Library had in store. :) Whole Foods loved us and they invited us to join them in their taco and BBQ events in the Spring and Summer.
