Animal Care & Services

Animal Control Services
The Town contracts animal licensing, control and services with the City of San Jose. The City of San Jose’s Animal Care and Services link will describe all of the programs and services.  Use the Licensing link to learn more about the law requiring all dogs and cats over the age of 4 months to be licensed and to have a current rabies vaccination and pet limits.  There is also an online licensing option available. View Animal Licensing Application here

You may contact the Animal Care Center for animal related issues at 408-794-7297 and listen to the menu.  The dispatch center is open from 7am to 7pm. Any complaints and concerns in the field, select option 1 (including and stray/injured/deceased animals). For after hour emergencies please call 911 or 408-354-8600 and the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department will contact an animal control officer.

The Animal Care Center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11a.m. to 7p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5p.m. for lost pet tours, adoptions, licensing and customer service.  The Town of Los Gatos strongly encourages residents to use the City of San Jose’s low-cost spay/neuter program for feral and domestic cats.  Please use the website to make an appointment.

Please call Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Communications at 408-354-8600 for barking dogs and dogs running off leash.
