Tips for Parents

Parent Project is a 12-week course for parents with out of control or strong willed adolescents. Officer Jamie Fields of the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department provides skills and resources for parents who are commited to improving their relationship with their children. Check for registration opportunities through the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department.
Tips for Parents: Underage Drinking in California, provides information and strategies for parents regarding youth drinking; including warning signs, how youth get alcohol and what you can do to prevent your child from drinking. 
The Drug Free Community Committee, which is hosted by the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department, meets monthly in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers to discuss juvenile issues as they relate to drugs, alcohol, and other high-risk behaviors. The committee consists of a cross-section of community and government members who deal with juveniles, or who are interested in addressing their issues. Members include the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department, representatives from the Schools, Churches, Community Against Substance Abuse (CASA), as well as participation from local service clubs.   Abbott Laboratories has designed a public awareness campaign about the prevalence of prescription drug abuse by teens. This campaign, entitled “not in my house," is designed to help raise parents’ awareness about this emerging issue.
